Founded in 1998 with the purpose of producing and selling high quality wines, Vinarte has already made a series of investments adding up to 10 million euros, both in agronomical side as well as in winemaking technologies, becoming a first-rate name among the wine-makers of Romania.
Presently, Vinarte has three major winemaking centres: Dealu Mare, Samburesti and Vanju Mare. In Samburesti a great wine-making centre was bought – Bolovanu – undergoing a full modernization process to become the first wine “chateau” in Romania and 60 hectares of wine (in association), Vinarte having the total control over their exploitation.
Samburesti
The vine-growing region where “Chateau Bolovanu” vineyard is located is one of the oldest and most beautiful in Romania. In the light of recent archaeological discoveries, it was formulated the hypothesis of its existence 2000 years ago.
The mineral composition here is typical for alluvial soils, having potential of producing with special character. The south-western exposure of the terraces, declining towards the Olt river acts like a thermal regulator, allowing for a quiet ripening of the vegetation cycles of the grapes. The ideal micro-climate of this realms guarantees an excellent balance between sugar level, acidity and poly-phenols. In Vanju-Mare, Turnu Severin County, an association contract was signed for the wine-making centre Starmina, including the existing vineyard (190 hectares – 60 hectares planted with red varieties and 130 hectares with white varieties). An ample program of working and exploiting the vines as well as upgrading the cellar technologies is under way.
Danubiane Terraces
Thanks to their position in the south-western region of the country, right next to the river Danube, with a climate benefited by the Mediterranean influence these vineyards have always produced remarkable wines.
The statistical climatological data confirm that here throughout the year the temperature is ideal and there are a significant number of sunny days (a written study from 1868 writes that “the sun shines above the vineyards all day long” ) very important elements in reaching the full maturity of the grapes. These vineyards have the special destination of producing exquisite wine, both red and white.
In Zoresti, in Dealu Mare vineyard, in 1998 they installed their own wine-making line in the same year a harvest of 1600 hectolitres of Merlot wine was obtained. In this vineyard, Vinarte signed an association contract for 127 hectares of red varieties (Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon). In Zoresti cellar, a program of modernization and restoration is under way, including the restoration of the cellar, where red wines await aging and maturation in new barriques, imported from France.
Villa Zorilor
It is situated in one of the most famous vine-growing regions: Dealu Mare, a region that extends for more than 60km, particularly known for red wines. Here you can easily find all the favorable pedo-climatic characteristics necessary for producing high-quality wines. The vines are situated on the sunny hills with southern and south-eastern exposure, protected by the cold winds from the north, an exposure that provides an optimal accumulation of heat during the vegetation period in summer, without them being affected by the excess of humidity.
Here the soil is rather poor, ideal for producing high-quality wines.
